Pino Ordelaffi began his military career under the command of Piccinino in the military campaign for the dominion of the Kingdom of Naples between Anjou and Aragon. On the death of his brother Cecco he became Lord of Forli and placed himself at the service of Venice fighting in the battle of Riccardina-Molinella under the command of Bartolomeo Colleoni. He then moved to the service of the Duke of Milan Galeazzo Maria Sforza becoming captain general of the Sforza army in Romagna and also fighting under the papal insignia. The command base made for the Impetus wargame consists of three men on horseback and an infantryman with a flag. In the center on a harnessed horse is Pino III Ordelaffi with bare head, in armor but without shoulder as represented in the sculpture created between 1460 and 1470 by Francesco di Simone Ferrucci and on display at the “Pinacoteca di Forlì”. The other two figures at his side are a squire holding the captain’s helmet in his hands and a crossbowman who guards his Lord. The bodyguard of PINO III ORDELAFFI was made up of crossbowmen on horseback and commanded by a certain MANGAGNONO, the “squadrero” (similar to captain) a “familio de coraza”. (source, list of provisioned in Forli drawn up in 1475 by Luffo Numai) Behind them an infantryman with split hose waves the flag with the heraldry of his lord, a rampant green lion that dominates three horizontal green bands on a gold field. The miniatures come from Perry Miniatures’ Wars of the Roses sets and have been modified to suit Italian fashion. Pino’s head has been completely rebuilt, while those of the other two knights have been modified. Pino’s horse was modified by adding the bard. A crossbow and quiver from a Warlord miniatures kit has been added to the crossbowman. The head was substituted for the banner holder and the pose changed, while the banner was made by hand painting on metal sheet. Ordelaffi 28mm medieval miniatures Like this:Like Loading...
