Yamagata Masakage was one of 24 generals in Takeda Shingen’s retinue.

During the fourth battle of Kawanakajima Yamagata Masakage led the Takeda vanguard, playing an important role in the victory of his army.
Masakage’s hatamoto and his men repelled the enemy troops commanded by Kageie Kakizaki, pursuing them for 300 meters.
